Schools in Bexleyheath: Primary and Secondary Schools and How to Apply

What is the Bexley selection test?
Bexley is a selective area. The council's selection test page says four grammar schools take part: Beths Grammar School (boys), Bexley Grammar School (mixed), Chislehurst and Sidcup Grammar School (mixed) and Townley Grammar School (girls). It says 800 places are available. For 2026 entry the council says the online registration period was 1 to 31 March 2026, testing took place between 2 and 10 September 2026 (most between 7 and 10 September), and results were emailed from 4pm on Friday 2 October 2026. The council warns that reaching the selective standard does not guarantee a place unless a child is among the top 180 highest scorers. The test covers verbal ability, numerical reasoning and non-verbal reasoning. Dates for future years are published on the same page. Sidcup, home to Chislehurst and Sidcup Grammar School, has its own guide at sidcup.co.
What about other support?
The council's schools pages also cover free school meals, the school uniform and clothing grant, SEND local offer and in-year applications, all linked from its schools and education hub. Term dates are in our term dates guide.
